Afghan asylum-seeker dies in ICE custody, US advocacy group says Mohommad Nazeer Paktyawal is at least the 12th person to die in ICE detention this year.

He wasn't just an asylum seeker. Paktyawal was an Afghan special forces soldier who worked with the U.S. Army's 3rd Special Forces Group. He was evacuated on August 30, 2021, entered the U.S. legally and had a pending case with a work permit and social security number. Killed by ICE maggots.

Here are some of the costs of his golf trips. Why would he stay in DC? He’s ruined the White House and the city.

ICE agents stopping people for speaking Spanish.
Families told to carry papers.
Judges begging ICE to follow basic law.

That’s not “border security.”
That’s authoritarian creep.

If the system runs on racial profiling, the system has to go.

Abolish ICE.

Reform UK leaders telling working‑class voters ‘that foreigner stole your cookie, we’re on your side’, while living in Dubai tax havens (Tice), buying Clacton property they can’t properly account for (Farage), and avoiding £600k in corp tax by channelling money into offshore trusts (Tice again).

Closer EUlinks are sensible but proceed with caution

Extracts

Rachel Reeves’s Mais lecture in the City of London this week is expected to be a milestone in the gradual recalibration of Britain’s relationship with Europe. Almost a decade after the referendum, there is a sense that the bitter political warfare that polarised the country during the Brexit debate is fading. Businesses, particularly the smaller ones, are now much more focused on practical measures such as how to smooth trade.

Speaking to The Times, the chancellor said Brexit had adversely affected economic growth but “there’s an awful lot we can do to improve our trading relations.

Where that requires alignment in our national interest, we should absolutely align.” Her central point is difficult to dispute.

It surely makes sense for Britain to pursue more bilateral arrangements with the EU where they improve access to the single market. On that front, closer ties with our neighbour and largest trading partner seem both sensible and overdue.
….

Equally, Britain should not sell itself short during negotiations. Only yesterday a new possible demand emerged over university tuition fees. These must be treated on merit. In addition the chancellor must not allow the many committed Europhiles in her party to see these limited steps as a staging post on the way to rejoining the customs union. Handing back control of Britain’s trade policy to Brussels would be a retrograde step. The UK would have to align with EU trade rules and unpick some agreements already struck with other countries. It would once again become a supplicant, dependent on the consent of 27 states.

Indeed some believe those who support rejoining the customs union see the trade deals as a way back to full membership.

That ship has sailed. But the chancellor should keep asking the question on market access.

Typical Times doing its overbearing brexity parent act. Telling Reeves she can try to improve market access with the EU but nothing more. Because then we’d be “supplicants”. Ffs. The endless tedium of it.
Get over yourselves. Look at our geopolitical insecurity and the actual numbers (Private Eye).
