07.08.2025 21:01 — 👍 25 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0This photograph shows a close-up of a gladiolus flower (Gladiolus ×hybridus) with water droplets on its petals. Delicate texture of the petals and the inside of the flower, including the stamens, covered in tiny droplets of dew or water, giving the photo a fresh and detailed look. Gladiolus, also known as the sword lily. The name "gladiolus" comes from the Latin word gladius, meaning "sword", due to the shape of the leaves, which resemble swords. This flower symbolizes bravery and courage, and in ancient Rome, gladiators attached its buds to their armor as a talisman. Gladiolus flowers usually begin blooming in mid-August and can continue until mid-October. Different colors of gladioli have their own meanings: red symbolizes love and passion, pink - grace and femininity, and white - purity and innocence
August is the last thick glass of summer...🌺 Summer is ending soon. And there is no escape from it. The last summer month, as if in farewell, gives sun and warmth. But at night you can already feel that autumn is near. 🍃🌞

The flower in the image is a Zinnia, specifically likely a cultivar of Zinnia elegans, also known as the common zinnia.

🥇 Congratulations @oleadam.bsky.social
The mouse is perfectly framed between two stalks of wheat. The soft, natural light emphasises the delicate details of the mouse and its surroundings. The mouse's endearing pose make it memorable.
The enlarged photo shows the face of the butterfly. You can see its eyes and antennae and twisted snout, also its front legs. The part of the head between the eyes resembles a nose, although butterflies don't have noses. The rest of the body with the wings in the background is blurred and the background of the photo is also a blurred green.
The butterfly is probably a Pararge aegeria, the spiny eyelet butterfly. But virtually all butterflies look like this when you zoom in.
