But it has been a time of wonder as well, as I begin a call as pastor of the Presbyterian-United Church of Christ.

The office is coming along, as well as an order for worship and a sermon focus for next Sunday (Sunday, 10:45am!).

I brought a whole bunch of books and art that remind me of my identity and vocation. And I got flowers, and visits, and met the knitting ladies. And I have already called friends and colleagues because there's a lot that needs to be figured out.

I will not say we told you so. I will say, he told you so.

I hope you believe us now when we say that the US Republic is past the line of no return.

*we/us = those who bear the brunt of US American systemic racism, xenophobia, and colonialism

Live Updates: Trump Orders National Guard to Washington and Takeover of Capital’s Police

There is no scenario where this is a good thing, whether in the federal district or other US jurisdiction.

The worst of it is that he said he would do as much. And there are people who still say they supported him because they thought he was only talk.

Podemos comenzar desde su niñez a enseñarles pertenencia social y solidaridad. Pertenencia y solidaridad se dan, se reciben y se enseñan.

We can start then young teaching them about belonging and solidarity. Belonging and solidarity are given, received, and taught.

The institutions of the American economy depend on the institutions of American democracy; rule of law, consistent regulation, stability, and all the rest.

That’s what’s being destroyed and that’s what risks the *entire economy.

Saying that out loud shouldn’t (and can’t) be a risk

Vance Tells Europeans to Stop Shunning Parties Deemed Extreme His comments, a week before Germany’s elections, seemed to specifically target efforts to sideline the hard-right Alternative for Germany.

We told you to believe them when they told you who they were.

The DNC had the defeat in November 2024 coming, and with the midterms (and a general in NYS) not really that far off, I am not holding my breath. The level of cleanup and encouragement social service leaders and community organizers are having to do is not deserving of such disservice by Dem leaders

‘We Have No Coherent Message’: Democrats Struggle to Oppose Trump More than 50 interviews with Democratic leaders revealed a party struggling to decide what it believes in, what issues to prioritize and how to confront an aggressive right-wing administration.

We have been calling in the party at all levels to pay attention, to develop a coherent narrative, to return to "being" a party of workers and the middle class, to commit to welcoming immigrants.. but no...

You do NOT have to speak to ICE without a JUDICIAL warrant. If they attempt to enter your home or your workplace, ask for a warrant. Sometimes they will try to use other, non qualifying paperwork. They need a warrant.

Know your rights if confronted by police or immigration agents Steps to take in the event of immigration raids:

Gather all your important documents

Let a trusted family member know where to find them

Talk with your family about what to do if you or someone in the family is detained by ICE

Give your child’s school a list of trusted adults who can pick up your child if you are detained by ICE

Consult with an immigration attorney What should you do if ICE comes to your door?

Don’t open the door without a valid warrant signed by a judge

Remain silent! You have the right to not speak

Ensure everyone in the home remains calm and don’t attempt to interfere with an ICE officer

Don’t sign anything without speaking to an attorney

Call your attorney or seek legal help at (617) 988-0606 What happens if ICE comes to your work?

Don’t provide false documents and don’t carry them with you

Don’t attempt to interfere with an ICE officer

Tell them you’d like to speak to your attorney and don’t sign anything without speaking to one

Keep important numbers with you

If ICE detains you while at work and you have children at home, make sure you inform ICE

📢Know Your Rights!

Communities across the country are dealing with the fear and threat of immigration raids.

To our immigrant neighbors and families, I am so sorry you are facing this cruelty and targeting, and our office is here as a resource.
