Are Credit Card Companies Becoming Morality Police? Queer indie creators are at the epicenter of moves by Visa and Mastercard to suppress or erase art

It was a PAIN IN THE ASS to get this post published: Medium refused to post it, citing prohibited material (??). Thank you @james-finn.bsky.social for helping me sneak this past the censors. Medium, we WILL be following up!! medium.com/prismnpen/ar...

Shout out to everyone still giving the payment processors hell

We've got to keep this fight up - for as long as it fucking takes - because censorship is the first step to removal from public life... Which is a step towards removing adult content creators & queer people from life altogether

This sounds an awful lot like what happened with Dreamspinner Press in 2019-2020. The company used royalties to pay their expenses, hoping some investment (or maybe just the next quarter's profits) would cover what they stole. I pulled my books and moved on, but many authors were owed $$$.

On a Forgotten Author and How Nazis Burned Berlin’s Queer Underbelly Elektropolis Coked to the Eyeballs: Berlin’s Modernist Identity Crisis

Mia Spiro writes in Anti-Nazi Modernism (2012) that β€œthe novels that Barnes, Isherwood, and Woolf wrote [… reveal the] conditions in 1930s Europe that made the continent ripe for disaster.” To this list I would like to add Robert McAlmon's 1920s stories about queer Berlin: medium.com/prismnpen/on...

When I’ve posted about the terrible effect tarifs will have on books in Canada, I’ve gotten responses where folks seem to think everything *but* stuff by Canadian authors will be affected. These folks have no idea that most Canadian popular *and* academic authors are published in the US.
