It really made me realize that some people don’t really want good art from good folks, they want a dopamine hit in the moment and then when things get stressful they start regretting it. Seeing buying art as something they can just change their mind on, like artists don’t pay real bills.

and despite being open about struggles and illness and stress, me and a lot of other artists were deemed scammers, unprofessional, irresponsible- like a woman scolding a retail worker for fumbling an order.

Artists don’t make products.
We make pieces.

and no, I don't mean weird art that's surface level made out of performativity like the slogan but rather support that fat furry or weird tgirl artist drawing her trauma out in mixed media or sex workers trying to get by and be their peers instead of having a bias for what makes YOU comfortable

almost like it's all a performative slogan for people to hide their own bias towards genuinely weird and queer art made by vulnerable members of society dumping their emotions into an art form.
