Le modèle de cette toile, au style marqué par l’influence de Manet et Whistler, aurait inspiré le personnage de Legrandin dans "À la recherche du temps perdu" de Proust.

Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh was born on this day in 1853.
A year after he had moved to Paris, Van Gogh painted this view featuring the popular Restaurant de la Sirène at Asnières.
