Today is Spanish National Day. Commemorates Columbus and was supposedly a favourite day for Franco so celebrations seem to be patchy across the country (according to articles on the web). Demo against colonialism and oppression outside the cathedral complex. #Valencia

The Town Hall has a Refugio (bomb shelter) open to visit. Valencia was a target of Franco's forces and there were many shelters set up.

Passive voice used a lot on the upstairs displays and it wasn't until downstairs that the perpetrators were mentioned.

Went to the science museum this morning at Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias. Probably grand for kids or those who prefer interactive displays but not enough "things". I wonder did Calatrava also specify the buckets for the leaky roof ? #Valencia

The average age in this bar has been raised significantly since our arrival to shelter out of the rain. #Valencia

Yerra it's not too bad. Heavy downpours with occasional outbreaks of scattered showers and the odd glimpse of blue sky. Had ten minutes of sun earlier while waiting for the bus.

Yesterday we took the No.10 tram from near the Palau de Les Arts back to town. Starts off as a typical tram but terminates in the massive Alacant station which is served just by the 10. Seems oversized for a four-car tram even considering the proposed northern extension. #Valencia

The Silk Exchange is worth a visit. These torsaded columns are vertigo inducing and the workmanship is magnificent. #Valencia

TukTuk cancelled due to rain. So off to the Cathedral via the Central Market. Passed the Post Office - gutted inside ! Impossible to go through the market without having some snacks - you could spend the day there eating. #Valencia

The rain is pelting down with the paths like streams. Possibly not the best morning for our planned TukTuk tour. The meeting point is Estación del Norte which still has many original features. Currently under refurb so a lot of scaffolding around. #Valencia

Some views of the port area in Valencia. Probably revitalised a bit as part of the America's Cup hosting. Really pleasant and the large "hangar" area is being used for roller skates training, instagramming and what have you.
