Calls to Boycott Products

Since the start of the year, we've seen more customer comments and requests to boycott products due to political issues. We understand that current events can stir strong feelings, and some customers may bring those concerns into their shopping experience.

During these times, we continue to rely on the same core principles that have always guided us, including our rigorous quality standards. These cover animal welfare, Fair Labor, sustainability, and ingredient transparency, all detailed at: pccmarkets.com/sustainability

PCC is a small, local, and independent co-op with deep roots in organic food and support for local producers. We engage thoughtfully in regional food issues while staying mindful of sensitive political topics.

We encourage shoppers to "vote with their dollar" by supporting the brands they believe in. Products that don't sell well are regularly discontinued. For questions about specific products, please refer customers to your Store Leadership team or have them contact Customer Service through our website by selecting the Contact Us section.

If political topics arise, feel free to gently steer the conversation back to food, something we all connect over.

Instead of engaging in political discussions, redirect the conversation to keep things food-focused and inclusive:

"I appreciate you sharing that. By the way, what are you planning to make with the ____?"

"Interesting. Hey, I noticed you purchased____. Have you tried their new flavor yet?"

As always, lead with kindness and don't hesitate to lean on your PIC group or leadership team if you need support.

PCC management is encouraging us to 'vote with our dollars' by boycotting Israeli brands as individuals, suggesting that they will only cease their funding of genocide if consumers make it unprofitable. They’ve offered no comment at all on their muzzling of workers.

A NEW ASK: Wear keffiyehs, pins, and other symbols of solidarity with Palestine whenever you shop at PCC. PCC is OUR CO-OP. Workers' speech is suppressed by management, who won't let them show their solidarity with Palestine. Show your solidarity with Palestine and with PCC workers both.

We will continue to escalate until PCC changes their policies, stands with their workers by guaranteeing their freedom of speech, and halts their support for Israel's war machine by destocking all brands that support the genocidal Zionist project.

By focusing on our boycott demands and ignoring our demand that PCC allow their workers to show solidarity with Palestine, PCC management is trying to split us apart. How exactly are we meant to 'vote with our dollars' that we want workers to be allowed to show their opposition to genocide?

08.06.2025 17:53 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

To continue to stock brands which fund the Israeli war machine almost two years into the escalated genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank—that’s political. To force employees to remove ceasefire pins and keffiyehs, to demand their silence at work. That’s political, too.

08.06.2025 17:53 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

PCC is absolutely political. Employees are permitted to wear BLM pins, and PCC has a rainbow logo on its social media for pride month. In the era of Trump 2, it’s obvious that BLM and queer pride are political. Good! PCC’s progressive positions are why we support it.

08.06.2025 17:53 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

By suppressing actual democratic movements like our own, PCC’s leadership is failing in its most basic responsibilities to us, and to humanity. Their cowardly excuse is that opposing the genocide is political, and they want to stay apolitical.

Unlike other stores, whose leaders are bound primarily to the profit motive, PCC as a cooperative represents broader interests, holding ‘concern for community’ as one of its core principles. PCC’s members support it specifically because of this.

A fake 'democracy' where money gets to vote, where the richer you are, the more you count, is what brought us here, and as socialists it's what we're fighting against. We are not only consumers, we are human beings, and as co-op members, we are entitled to a voice in how the co-op is run.

PRESS RELEASE

MICROSOFT WORKER DISRUPTS CEO SATYA NADELLA, PEPPER SPRAYS, ARRESTS PROTESTERS AS NO AZURE FOR APARTHEID SHUTS DOWN MICROSOFT BUILD

SEATTLE, WA – Earlier today, a Microsoft employee and a former Google employee disrupted the keynote address of Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, at Microsoft's annual Build conference as part of No Azure for Apartheid's (NOAA) protest against Microsoft complicity in the Israeli genocide of Palestinians.

Additionally, NOAA protesters were peppered sprayed and one person was violently arrested in a gathering outside the conference at the Seattle Convention Center. This marks a serious escalation by Microsoft in its defense of its business with the Israeli military.

In a moment where Nadella was intending to show off Microsoft technology at its marquee developer conference, Microsoft employee and NOAA campaign member, Joe Lopez, reminded Nadella, and the world, employees will not be silent or tolerate Microsoft's role in perpetuating the Israeli genocide against Palestinians.

As Nadella was plugging different Microsoft products to the audience, Lopez interjected: "How about you show them how Microsoft is killing Palestinians? How about you show them how Israeli war crimes are powered by Azure?" Lopez was promptly, and violently, removed from the conference, which is being hosted at the Seattle Convention Center.

Mere seconds after Lopez's disruption, an ex-Google worker and No Tech for Apartheid Organizer, further disrupted Nadella to tell him that Microsoft's legacy in Seattle will be one tarnished by the blood of Palestinians spilled by Microsoft's digital arm sales to the State of Israel.

n an amazing display of solidarity, the ex-Google worker's disruption was equally as poignant as she further reminded the Microsoft CEO and its worldwide audience that " ... all tech all tech workers should know that big tech is complicit in the Israeli genocide against Palestinians." As Microsoft prides itself on being a staple of Seattle and its economy, the disruptor wanted it to be known that Seattle will not accept company's profit ambitions at the expense of Palestinian lives.

The ex-Google worker was fired from the company last year for her part in a protest against Google's Project Nimbus and relationship with the Israeli military.

To further pile on the pressure and make his actions clear to fellow Microsoft employees, Lopez sent a company-wide e-mail to tens of thousands of his colleagues.

"As one of the largest companies in the world, Microsoft has immeasurable power to do the right thing: demand an end to this senseless tragedy, or we will cease our technological support for Israel," Lopez wrote.

Later in the day, NOAA's protest commenced from Westlake Park and marched to the Seattle convention center, drumming and chanting "say it loud and say it clear: Microsoft is a war profiteer!"

While protest attendees were chanting outside of Seattle Convention Center's entrance, multiple protesters unveiled a banner from an upper balcony of the Convention Center that read "ISRAEL OFF AZURE," and "1,500 workers, 100k+ public signers, 320k+ letters demand MSFT cut ties with genocide," to roaring cheers from the crowd. Security violently restrained these protesters and promptly removed the banner, but not before a strong message was delivered to the protesters viewing the display below. Protesters chanted "SHAME! Protesters then marched to another part of the convention center. As marchers neared an unbarricaded entrance to the convention center, Microsoft security and law enforcement pepper sprayed multiple people and …

In response to the protest, Microsoft locked down the convention center effectively shutting down its largest conference of the year.

For people who were unable to attend in person, NOAA facilitated a worldwide digital protest where hundreds of people gathered online. In the Microsoft Developer livestream, one commenter wrote, "Microsoft, stop your complicity in the genocide in Gaza, stop selling tech to Israel as they wipe out Palestinians." It has been noted that Microsoft has restricted engagement with many of its social media accounts as a result of the public pressure, including that of CEO, Satya Nadella.

Microsoft, clearly feeling the pressure from NOAA and people around the world, finally admitted to their role in the genocide in a statement the company issued last Thursday. NOAA promptly issued a response to the statement, which reads, in part: "Microsoft claims that after conducting an internal investigation, with the help of an unnamed external entity, they found 'no evidence to date that Microsoft’s Azure and AI technologies have been used to target or harm people in the conflict in Gaza'. To suggest that Microsoft’s sale of cloud and AI technologies directly to Israeli military units is somehow innocent is, at face-value, a blatant lie."

Early in 2025, multiple media outlets reported on Microsoft's eagerness to supply the IOF with its digital weaponry. Among the many revelations, Drop Site news reported the IOF's usage of Azure skyrocketed by 155% percent between June 2023 and April 2024.

Microsoft is clearly feeling the weight of the constant pressure exerted by the campaign and people around the world. Today's disruptions come just six weeks after two Microsoft employees were terminated for disrupting Microsoft's 50th anniversary event in Redmond, WA.

Additionally, the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestments and Sanctions Movement (BDS) recently added Microsoft to its list of priority targets. On its campaign website, BDS writes, "Microsoft knowing…

IOF off Azure: End Microsoft’s complicity in Israeli genocide and apartheid by terminating all Azure contracts and partnerships with the Israeli military and government.

Disclose all ties: Make all ties to the Israeli state, military, and tech industry publicly known, including weapons manufacturers and contractors. Conduct a transparent and independent audit of Microsoft’s technology contracts, services, and investments.

Call for a ceasefire: Honor the demands of over 1,000 employees who signed a petition calling on Microsoft’s leadership to publicly endorse an immediate and permanent ceasefire.

Protect employees: Ensure the safety of Palestinian, Arab, Muslim, and allied employees by protecting pro-Palestinian speech, actions, and fundraising initiatives on internal company platforms.
