This was maybe what James Joyce had in mind, when he described, "The heaventree of stars hung with humid nightblue fruit".

Nobody is policing what you can say. They are just asking for some common courtesy, some consideration for others.

Other people don't want you to appear like a solipsistic, arrogant, entitled oaf.

I am positive you are none of these.

James was outstanding, (like Demon Copperhead) reshaping a beloved text brilliantly.
My most memorable read this year though would be, Grace, by Paul Lynch. Harrowing but beautiful.
