He wrote those words in a letter to Pierre Samuel Du Pont on the 24th of April 1816. The letter is considered part of the collection known as "The Republic of Letters". Why won't Scotus & The Federalist Society ever comment on "it's" "original intent"? What kind of "din" would it cause in the GOP?
As far as the U.S. Constitution can be understood and those who believe in "original intent" without "deliberate misinterpretation for political gain" can be understood, what did Jefferson mean with the words "We of the United States, you know are constitutionally & conscientiously Democrats."
