Radio 4 interviewed some folks on AI yesterday and one proponent rolled out the usual 'people are scared of new technology' nonsense.

People aren't scared of new tech.

They're scared of the devaluation and loss of jobs, which is happening.

They're scared of thirsty data centres.

This isn't hard.

It's the most annoying argument ever. Just completely pretending there aren't valid concerns.

South Africans not believing an ANC member would take a decision for the benefit of the citizens, just as a face value statement even, is both sad and hilarious.

Same,lol. I actually just had my phone permanently on silent until I moved to a place where the front gate calls you to let people in and I couldn't do that anymore. Also, people who don't know how to text have become the bane of my existence.

It's such a nightmare. No matter how many numbers I block, my phone is ringing all day.

Important reminder

Somehow the world has reached a new level of decay, where a person might get killed for their political beliefs. This is unprecedented territory. No black activists have ever been assassinated. Students and workers have never been gunned down in the street by the security apparatus etc.
