04.12.2025 12:46 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Exactly.
04.12.2025 00:23 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0In fact, right now I'm avoiding grading the infographics and written reflection pieces my students have done as their final projects!
01.12.2025 19:15 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0No, they don't. And they shouldn't! I ask my students to do all kinds of arguments, like explainers and solution essays and evaluations, etc of all kinds of things.
01.12.2025 19:14 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Oh, for sure! I absolutely don't teach that way, but my hackles always go up because CC students often are dragged through the mud, often by the same educators who claim to value them! Carry on!💜
01.12.2025 19:13 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0100 level CC students absolutely can meet those standards, though? They're just as smart if not smarter than students at Harvard.
01.12.2025 19:00 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0No one cares more about teaching and is more passionate about it than I am. I've made this my entire life's work. I innovate and experiment and do all the good things. I was a pioneer of UX a decade before my school was. Not infallible but neither are the students.
30.11.2025 14:31 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Yes, but also: what does consistently pointing this out do? Further, I can have the literal best policy ever and if my students don't do it, I'm not accountable for that. By saying it's only adults removes all accountability for the students too, which is the major problem. I'm in the trenches.
30.11.2025 14:29 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Yes it is!!
29.11.2025 23:48 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0But as a college professor, I've also seen the standards plummet, and now we as professors are EXPECTED to have absolutely no late policies, no penalties, no real standards, and to hand everyone an A even if they haven't done a single thing.
29.11.2025 23:15 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It's because any standard at all is considered ableist now. A late policy--which I still have!-- is grounds for war crimes at the Hague! And they expect an A. It's insidious.
29.11.2025 23:12 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I think is but it also depends. I had the skills (I was raised to be completely independent of anyone!)via upbringing and therapy to demand the respect i (and everyone!) deserves in a partner. I didn't NEED to be married and didn't necessarily want to. I think that's still rare. I'm almost 44.
