Iran’s recent actions, including attacks on US military bases in Qatar and Iraq, are likely to have severe consequences. By targeting these bases, Iran is not only escalating tensions with the US but also violating the sovereignty of Qatar and Iraq.

In this ongoing war, a decisive full-scale conflict with a clear outcome is better than a prolonged one filled with alternating good and bad news. A full-on war may cause a sharp, one-time market dip, but drawn-out conflicts trigger repeated declines that can be even more damaging over time.

Oil markets reopened just a few hours ago, and the initial surge in prices has been almost entirely erased. Prices are currently up only about 0.5% to 1% following the U.S. airstrike on Iran. Still, the situation remains fluid, tensions may escalate or de-escalate at any time.

A new troll tactic is spreading. They pose as Kakampinks to argue against Duterte’s ICC accountability. They exploit Filipino values to push for impunity. They use emotional appeals to muddy the waters. Do not be deceived. Justice is not cruelty. Accountability is non-negotiable.

Philippine politics is like a predictable drama—yet we still watch, we find amusement in it, even when in fact, the joke is on us.

The plane should depart as soon as possible. The administration cannot afford to wait another day, as circumstances may change by then.

It is a very desperate move for Duterte’s lawyers to go to the Supreme Court at 9PM, expecting court employees to provide a copy of a nonexistent order when the petition was only filed at 4:27PM. According to the Supreme Court’s public statement, the petition had merely been raffled.

Perhaps his lawyers believed that filing a petition with local courts was necessary to enforce the ICC warrant. But that is not how it works. Maybe they assumed there was still time and that they could find ways to delay its service. We will never know the reason unless it comes directly from them.

Duterte’s lawyers are at the Supreme Court this 9PM after filing the petition this afternoon. However, they cannot expect an order to be issued just hours after submission, regardless of its urgency. By 5PM or 6PM, the Justices and court employees are already out and on their way home.

I do not know what happened. I expected Duterte to at least put up a good fight. The petition could have been filed as soon as the news broke yesterday, with efforts made to return to Davao City to buy time while awaiting the Supreme Court’s action.

His arrest will also impact his mayoral candidacy and may lead to disqualification. For the first time in decades, Davao City’s mayoralty could pass to another family. He could have let one of his sons run, but while everything seemed in place, the cracks in his strategy have now been exposed.

Duterte was checkmated. He was usually the one staying a step ahead of his enemies, but this time, he had no way out. He could have remained in Davao City, where arresting him would have been more difficult. Instead, he traveled to Hong Kong and then returned to Metro Manila.
