i generally dont finish games that i hate... it might be metroid other m lol, i'm sure there are plenty of worse games but that one pisses me off

i feel like there's a void for an aesthetically immaculate, biologically detailed metroid-like with tons of weird systems play and secrets and combat, but difficulty somewhat de-emphasized. in some ways prime 1 was the closest.

i finally got around to playing the original metroid 2 recently (rly liked it) and it struck me how TINY your field of view is in that game. very claustrophobic

now it's one thing if it's a core meltdown type situation. if your core's all fucked up it makes perfect sense that all the girders and concrete slabs would stop working at once. that's core stuff 101. but that's not a self-destruct sequence, that's just a destruct sequence. there's a difference.

classic mistake when designing a self destruct sequence for your secret base is making it so that the base starts spontaneously disintegrating *before* the countdown ends. buddy the whole point of the countdown is so your henchmen have time to get to their cars. why are the girders melting

i just fought a certain secret gimmick boss that has fire projectiles going everywhere and you can't restore silk off of it. it's a diabolical setup but magma bell made it easy. use your magma bell.

ppl are sleeping on the magma bell in silksong. that thing isnt just for lava in the deep docks, it works on ANY fire-based attack from an enemy. it turns a bunch of the last judge's 2-mask attacks into 1-mask attacks. you hate 2-mask attacks, right? use your magma bell.

the smaller scale areas do look interesting though... if the desert/open world shit doesnt completely take over the structure of the game then ill live. and biker chick samus is cool

most of what ive seen of prime 4 has me excited but the shots of that desert area have me Concerned. i rly do not want to drive around in a massive flat desert in a metroid game
