I’ve previously got the Government to write off £500 million of #Woking Borough Council’s historic debts. The Local Government Minister has now confirmed it will give our new West Surrey Council interim financial support - it’s vital this council starts on a firm financial footing.

Our country is paying the price for two anti-growth Labour budgets and the Chancellor today has wasted a chance to turn things around.

The Government must act now to tackle costs, get Britain growing again and protect our country.

Last week, I was on @skynewsrss.bsky.social commenting about #PMQs - this week, I’ve been picked to ask a question of the Prime Minister myself! People of #Woking, what do you think I should ask?

Shabana Mahmood to announce asylum system changes to take effect From Monday, asylum seekers granted refugee status in the UK will be offered only temporary protection.

The Home Secretary is chasing Reform to get headlines while failing on the bigger problems of dangerous small boat crossings and use of hotels. This measure is a red herring that will only add more bureaucracy - which they won’t be able to cope with!

Ed Davey quote which reads:
No matter how the Prime Minister tries to redefine offensive as defensive, letting the US use UK bases for strikes on Iran is a slippery slope.

He must not let Trump drag Britain into another prolonged war in the Middle East.

Starmer must come to Parliament, set out the legal case in full, and give MPs a vote.

We have a duty to defend our brave British troops and citizens in the region, and that must be the focus of any operations. The UK must not be complicit in illegal military action.

The UK can't be dragged into another protracted Middle Eastern war by a US President.

The Iranian people deserve to live free from a brutal regime. Donald Trump's unilateral and illegal military action won't deliver freedom, peace and security. It will only unleash more bloodshed.

The UK can't be dragged into another protracted Middle Eastern war by a US President. Keir Starmer needs to rule out the use of UK bases for any future unilateral US strikes.

I was recently able to meet and talk with the #Woking Sea Cadets and their volunteer team leading up to Armed Forces Week. It was also lovely to meet their Junior Sea Cadets. This has furthered my interest and commitment in the recognition of dedicated cadets and their merits.

Pleased to visit Nationwide’s #Woking branch to meet the manager Fabian and his team. Unlike other banks or building societies, Nationwide is definitely staying in the town - in fact it’s had an increase in customers recently.

Why health has topped the list of my priorities Over the past couple of weeks, two of my key priorities have been cancer screening and social housing standards. In this column, I want to share an update on the work I’ve been doing in both areas.

In my latest fortnightly column in the #Woking News and Mail, I’ve written about promoting locally based cancer charity @walkthewalk.bsky.social in Parliament and improving standards of social housing. Read the full story here ⬇️

Across the country, vital care services continue to be underfunded and treated as tomorrow’s problem.

Parents of disabled children and adults live in constant fear. They deserve security, dignity, and a government that acts before homes close and lives are uprooted.

Today is an important step in dismantling the system that protected Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Epstein’s other associates.

The victims, survivors and their families have waited far too long for the truth to come out and justice to be done.

We're using our opposition day in Parliament to demand answers on how Prince Andrew was appointed as trade envoy.

Transparency and openness is the only way to restore public trust.

Families of children with SEND are exhausted. The fights, the delays, the underfunding, the private profiteering.

The crisis is real, and it must end.

Parents of SEND children are constantly fighting for the right support, all while private equity firms cash in and siphon taxpayers’ money offshore.

The Lib Dems will cap profits at 8% and treat SEND as critical national infrastructure.

New border rules for British dual nationals need to be quickly shut down, say Lib Dems Letter to Shabana Mahmood describes controls that could block British dual citizens’ entry to UK as ‘unacceptable’

Pleased to talk to @theguardian.com about the call from the @libdems.org.uk and me for the Government to move at speed to delay the rollout of new border controls that could result in British dual nationals being blocked from entering the country.

Alongside colleagues from the @libdems.org.uk, I’ve written to the Home Secretary demanding urgent action for dual nationals left stranded abroad or forced to pay eye-watering costs just to come home - all because of the Government’s botched rollout of new immigration rules.

The student finance system isn't working.

Graduates are paying more, for longer, on terms that keep changing. That’s not fair and we have the plan to fix it.

Was shocked to see the state of some of the buildings at my old school, #Woking High. Some buildings are held together with masking tape and the music classroom has been closed as it has a hole in the ceiling! I will be demanding the Government support for building repairs asap.

‘Grace period’ needed for dual nationals returning to UK on second passport, say Lib Dems Will Forster MP says ‘lack of planning and haphazard communication’ on new border rules has caused chaos

The Government’s lack of planning and haphazard communication has left dual nationals completely in the lurch. Many who don’t currently hold a British passport find themselves stranded abroad or having to stump up a huge sum just to get back home.
