I always get drawn back to Al Gore telling voters that he’d only raise taxes on the top 1% and then after the election a poll showed that something like 20% of voters thought they were in the top 1% and another 20% thought they would be in the next five years. Just a total tragic disconnect.

Too much of US society (& these replies) are based on blaming individuals for systemic problems. This is a short path to rampant classism and ableism.

It’s never funny or appropriate to suggest someone is incontinent as a put down. Wearing an adult diaper isn’t a character flaw. Ditto using ”crazy“ as a pejorative. These aren’t totally niche, but ableism is still hugely common among people of all political stripes.
