Deep Rock Galactic looked so interesting until I saw it had this stupid shit, and then I just refunded it as soon as I saw a progression system. Maybe after 40 hours of investment the game will be fun, but I'm not interested in that. Just let me play the damn game.

It's all so artificial and arbitrary. These things don't make the game more fun, they require you to keep playing to see more of it. I as the player should be able to decide if I want to engage with this game any further without having to spend 40+ hours in it to unlock everything first.

I understand that games want to dripfeed you skills and updates, partly for the dopamine hit of finally leveling up (which feels so weird to me anyways) but I really don't need a fucking entire hour to get used to, say, Payday 2's +15% Interaction Speed for example.

BattleBit Remastered looked really fun, until I noticed I had to progress through the game to unlock other weapons. This especially is a funny one because this is done on Roblox games to incentivize artificial player counts via encouraging people to play less for fun and more for progression.

Like, okay. Games like Diablo, WoW, RPGs and shit, I get it. But like why the fuck do I need to play Deep Rock Galactic for 20 additional hours to actually unlock more of my kit and flesh out my build? Why not just train me on my items and let me play with them from there.

One of the biggest plagues in modern gaming is the progression system. Pretty much every game everyone else picks up that I might be interested in has it, and it's always for really artificial reasons.
