Remember, according to the eu / conservatives / authoritarians It's incredibly hard for consumers and incredibly confusing to figure out if this is real meat or not...
Let's just ignore the brand name, the "soja based" text, and the vegan symbolπ€‘

Yeah asia has always been Infront of us in the west with veggie products, but we were slowly catching up, and the meat industry hates that.
Conservatives authoritarians have lost all shame, instead of being scared to be shunned and ignored when the scream their filth they now get supported en-masse

Pretty much yeah! It really doesn't make sense, especially as we have vegan labels, vegan descriptions (eu has strong laws about showing ingredients etc) vegan aisles / shelves specifically marked, and often vegan suggestive brand names..

6/6 Luckily the fight is not over yet though, the eu council will still have to vote on it via Qualified Majority Voting, to block it we'd need: Four member states voting against the proposal...
...who together represent at least 35% of the total EU population. Which..is unlikely (Thanks Merz..)

5/6 Which in the end will result to less people trying alternatives as they will feel confused/not as enticed. - Which, of course benefits the meat industry gladly (which is also why they love buying our politicians)

4/ issue is however, is that this lowered the barrier of entry, someone directly knows how to use a vegan steak, how to use vegan gyros (or can at least google) but "small soja chunks" or "big soja chunks" are a lot less recognizable when for example making a vegetarian carbonara.

3/ which makes it quite obvious that as always, the lovely european meat industry made some big donations to some politicians to push this through, now for some people this might not seem like the biggest deal cause..well, it's not meat so why call it meat?

Now this is obviously a lie, nobody, or at least not even a above 0.01% of the population can actually claim they don't see the vegan signs (often plant based food is in it's own section) don't see the suggestive company names (vegetarian butcher, planted, beyond meat, etc)

Sure thing! I always love to inform!^^
So pretty much the eu parliament had a vote about banning the usage of "meat related words' on vegan/vegetarian alternatives, think schnitzel, steak, gyros, all of that, because it, and I quote "Has too big of a risk to confuse the consumer" 1/

So relieved the EU Parliament is tackling the most pressing issue of our time: the existential threat of someone accidentally buying a bean burger.
I can finally sleep at night knowing I'm safe from the great veggie 'schnitzel' threat. What a productive use of power.
