Grayson Perry at a lectern grimacing at the photo of Trump and Farage in Trump's gold apartment

Hanging out with Grayson Perry (and @kayth.bsky.social and @drsadiewatson.bsky.social) in London. Hilarious lecture on:

β€˜Why I hate Classical Civilization’.

Perfect!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

In a week of heritage being sold to anonymous collectors, it's great to see anonymous donors helping save an important archaeological artefact πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

I'll be sharing something else in the next few days that equally needs help, so maybe you might be able to help that one, if you were able.

Help Save Leicestershire’s Bronze Age Torc Help us raise Β£10,000 towards Leicestershire Museums' acquisition of this unique object so that it can remain in the public domain.

So close!! Can we get it across the line and into the safety of Leicester Museums Service, where it can be researched, studied... and looked after in perpetuity!

Three frogs in my teeny garden pond

Aww brilliant! Even in my teeny, less than 2ft x 2ft, garden pond in the middle of urban Snorbens we have loads of frogs.

Them and the hedgepigs keep the slugs and snails in check.

P.S. A correction to the DCMS FOI Treasure reward figures by Tess Machling [A download/print PDF version can be found at the end of the paper] I am going to be completely honest: since I started writing about detecting, as well as receiving support from s…

No idea what's going on with these figures & have run out of energy to even try to work it out.

I want away from the #detecting world: it's grasping, misogynistic & unpleasant, so this is the final blog from me about this.

Thanks all :)

A pile of Harry Price biographies and autobiographies.

When you send an email to some folks in Leeds that begins,

"I know what I'm about to write is going to sound crazy, but I'm really hoping you might be able to help me..."

... you know you're back in Harry Price Land. πŸ˜‚

We don't know how much of the reward Licence donated. And tbh would have been better had he waived his portion of the reward so that a museum might have been able to purchase the hoard. Also, he and the landowner kept a coin each...

Coin used as Leeds bus fare was 2,000‑year‑old currency The coin was handed down to Peter Edwards from his grandfather in the 1950s.

"My first thought when I found out its origin was that I would like to return it to an institute where it could be studied by all...My grandfather would be proud to know, as I am, that the coin is coming back to Leeds."

Lovely. ❀️

Snettisham torc H7: Up close by Tess Machling [A download/print PDF version can be found at the end of the paper] Having previously written about the H7 torc from Snettisham a few years ago, I recently had the chance to see it…

A rather odd sibling for the Newark torc and the Netherurd terminal: Torc H7 from Snettisham.
