...so its basically a walk thru "spot the difference" game: creepy mode. its spawned a million imitators, some shitty asset flips, some pretty decent, some really dang good. for another decent example, look at "captured" (one where the anomalys arent maddeningly subtle like "one tile was beige")

its a video game, basic concept is youre in a weird endless PT loop subway station. If everything is normal, continue on. if theres something fucked up (an "anomaly", which range from huge and obvious to teensy subtle), turn around and go back. continue until youve gotten enough right in a row.

idk maybe if the average joe was able to see socialist policies actually implemented and see how it effects their life in a positive way it might help to dispel some of that scary Spectre Of Socialism shit they grew up with. maybe we will get people on board with that faster than The Revolution™

idk call me crazy but if you want to push shit further left maybe it starts with like. some reasonable, popular leftwing policies getting implemented. maybe we can start with simple shit instead of just waiting for Da Revolution?

...anyway im assuming no one at pixar thought *this* hard about the logistics of post-hero villain society, but I feel like theres potentially a good political intrigue story here about how tf the government mightve maintained the line "we never needed heros in the first place"

oh yeah fuck they could totally go operation paperclip here. and of course the govt would probably have full confidence in their surveillance of their villain on a leash.

good source of advanced weaponry, good optics from keeping their new allies out of the public eye/disappeared, good propaganda

yeah, without supers keeping an eye out that leaves way more time to strategize and build up your shit quietly. Overconfident govt thinks theyre doing an amazing job with the easy villains, meanwhile the *really* scary villains are making amazing progress on their 20 year world domination plan

while the smart villains go stealth to make the ban look effective, dumb villains go all out, and are easily taken out by the military or whoever. To the public, it effectively looks like the govt just. took em all out. wow! look how much more effective the government is than supers ever were!

i would argue its still functionally a plot hole as the movie doesnt really address, BUT there are definitely ways to work with it. "heros dealt with villains far less than TV makes it look, and villains benefitted from the ban so they decided to do less flashy heists that look non super"

also, could argue that villains would BENEFIT from the superhero ban, so might voluntarily go "quiet" and opt for less flashy crimes, like robbing the louve and making it feasibly look like non supers. they have a motive to be more sneaky if it means the ban isnt overturned. less fun maybe, but!

maybe supervillains are still a rare thing but just dealt with by the regular, non super authorities like police and military during the ban. Would have room to talk about "efficiency" and "cost of military vs superheros" and ethical questions (i.e. heros may take villains alive, military shoots em)

yeah, you could make the argument like ".5% of a superheros time is spent dealing with supervillains, but its flashy so its the main thing we hear about. most of the time theyre just doing everyday saving, like helping with accidents and regular ol murder stopping and shit"
