The entire city of Seattle would be devastated if they even knew this game was happening right now #BAONPDX

The common term in soccer is "the run makes the pass." Last night, the runs were lacking, so the horseshoe of death made a return. I've seen this team improve in this area over the past month, but it is the key attacking area to watch as the season enters its climax. #RCTID

However, Portland's other attackers (most notably Kevin Kelsy) simply aren't getting in the right spots to positively impact the game when they get the ball. Mora's receiving ranks 5th, but that's been one of the strengths of his game since coming to Portland. #RCTID

Antony's speed allows for him to be an outlet for long balls. Guerra's movement is excellent for a rookie. Fernandez is one of the smartest players on the pitch whenever he gets on the field. #RCTID

This metric measures how good a player's off-ball movement is and how often they receive the ball in dangerous spots. It doesn't surprise me who comprises Portland's top three. #RCTID

Very disappointing to see the local newspaper outsource coverage of one of the only local professional teams to the Associated Press. #RCTID

They did stay in Texas after the Club America game. Their 45-minute flight from Austin to Dallas was scheduled for Friday afternoon, but mechanical issues forced them to depart on Saturday morning. #RCTID

Well, here's the thing, it does throw off the rhythm of a matchday to travel on the same day as a game. Not really an excuse, but certainly a serious contributing factor. #RCTID

"I thought we dominated the game. From the first kick they dropped off. I don't think we played with the intensity that we played with in the last 4-5 games. Fatigue is a factor, but it's not an excuse. I felt like we were fatigued in our decision-making." -Phil Neville #RCTID

"We're not really thinking in a negative way. We needed to give the players a better platform to go out and play. It's my job to do that, and I'm disappointed in myself." -Phil Neville #RCTID

Big old faceplant in Texas. Couldn't recover from an unnecessary error and failed to execute the gameplan. Same as it ever was. #RCTID

Neville has changed Portland's shape with Da Costa and Fernandez acting as twin 8s and Lassiter/Antony on the wings. 4-3-3 with Fory and Mosquera as fullbacks. #RCTID

Thought the Timbers played a perfect offside trap before that corner kick. Linesman didn't agree. Dallas scores on the resulting corner after taking their best aerial threat off the pitch. Because of course. 2-0 Dallas, 62nd minute. #RCTID

If Mora is not making that run in front of goal, he needs to come off. Wasted a perfect chance created by Ayala and Da Costa. #RCTID

Cont'd:

Would feel OK (not great, but pretty neutral) about that half without the Crepeau blunder.

Musa wins every header, including on defensive set pieces. Fory is needed.

Cont'd: Aside from that last footrace and ball recovery, it's been an off-night for Surman.

Off-ball movement is nonexistent. Too reliant on crosses. Bad game-plan.

Halftime thoughts from the pressbox:

No one should be winning this game, but Portland are losing.

They're back to their usual road form of "misplay easy passes in the final third and fail to make dangerous runs."
