What's very funny to me is that by the time Part 2 posts, Sherlock & Co will be done with The Hound. But hey, I've got the Watsonian Weekly for digging into that! 😁

14.11.2025 16:23 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I made this for a college assignment, 12 years ago. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows was still recent, and the last episode of Sherlock was "The Reichenbach Fall," so I went all out on a "Final Problem" theme.
I always did want to make a magazine. 😂 #SherlockHolmes #Sherlockians
That's... that's a lot. Good golly.
06.11.2025 21:18 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0So, in the space of 24 hours, I:
• Got my 2nd invite to the BSI Dinner
• Found out that my car battery and front driver axle needed replacing. Repairs to the tune of $1K+.
• Landed a 2nd freelance gig.
That's a rollercoaster! Also within that time, we experienced a small but mighty Blue Wave.
Heading to bed shortly, but a quick update: With 98 of our 222 races called, we've got 72 wins.

"I've heard it said that hope is the consequence of action more than its cause... Instead of waiting around for hope, we actually have an obligation — a responsibility — to build hope, and that hope is the result of what we do in this moment."

29.10.2025 12:58 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The sheer irony is that I have a story idea kicking around in my head with the same basic structure, but the past would be way more recent, like the ’70s or ’80s. Dunno if I'm ever going to be able to write it, but it is funny that I still have the same idea when I've just been railing about it. 😂
29.10.2025 01:34 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0And because WWII is... erm, not my thing... I have zero interest in these books, lol. With no offense to the books themselves or to the authors. I'm sure they're lovely stories and good writers. But yeah, zero interest.
29.10.2025 01:34 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I suppose I've come across the basic structure of "younger person meets older person with secrets and finds out/helps resolve things" before, but I've never seen it so persistent with regard to a specific gender for both characters and a specific time period for the older character.
29.10.2025 01:34 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Who started this, and did anybody decide it was a thing? Authors can't be writing these in a vacuum, can they? They have to know that other ones are out there, don't they?
Or is this a wider subgenre of historical fiction, of which I am only aware of the WWII examples? 👀
I stg, "younger woman in present day meets older woman with secrets, the story goes back in time to WWII, and the modern girl finds things out/helps resolve things" is such a weirdly persistent subgenre of WWII fiction. Every so often, a new one turns up on Amazon.
