So the Kerr County, Texas commissioners refused Federal ARPA funds for emergency warning systems because of “communism” and the result was they killed over 200 people…

This is what hate and GOP rhetoric does to your brain.
It’s deadly.

Word of the Day is a true favourite, as some of you will know.

Apricity (17th century) is the warmth of the sun on a winter’s day.

I hated Twitter before it was cool so was never part of the #genealogy community there. Willing to give this place a shot. Hey friends!

Hi Linda, my Cummings were originally Skimming! They only became Cummings when they moved to Cumberland and Durham in the late 1800s. #genealogy

My word of the day (and personal recommendation) is ‘snerdling’ (18th century): nestling cosily beneath the covers and holding off the day a little longer.

Morning.

Time to introduce myself. I’m a retired detective and keep my research and investigative skills by tracking down my ancestors! I love family history. Am lucky now to be working in my local libraries meeting loads of lovely people and discovering great new books. It’s very nice to be here.

Redirecting...

Just shared a story on Facebook about one of the brightest stars in my family tree, Estelle Jarratt. The more I learn about her, the more inspired I feel. If you’re into genealogy or love to hear good family stories, check it out!

I see that several of my new followers have the "Invalid Handle" problem. BlueSky is a little overwhelmed. See these instructions to fix it.

YouTube
Is WikiTree the right place for your One Place Study?- Jane Barton YouTube video by Society of Genealogists

I had a quick look and the talk's still there.
I've not made as much progress as I'd have liked, but my forest of trees is growing and they're starting to connect. I'm also starting to connect with people who've already researched a specific family, which is great as it's a huge task for one person.

Good morning.

Word of the Day is as beautiful as it is underused. ‘Confelicity’ is finding joy in the happiness and success of others.
