Trump attacks Tylenol as officials unveil highly contentious conclusions on autism President says acetaminophen – also known as paracetamol - increases risk when taken by pregnant women, assertion contradicted by research

Please know that this is Trump scaremongering.

There is no good scientific evidence linking paracetamol (Tylenol) to autism.

A 2024 Swedish study of 2.4 million births found no relationship whatsoever between exposure to paracetamol in utero & subsequent autism.

🫨 Did you know 95% of the remaining hereditary peers in the House of Lords went to private school?

Over half went to Eton alone.

52% of all Lords were privately educated. There's a long way to go before the 829 member Upper House is representative of the wider population.

If you're applying for teaching jobs at the moment, I cannot overemphasise the value of giving specific examples in your supporting letter.
Everyone can *say* they do things, but there's so much power in an example of something you've actually done.

A Painted Lady butterfly sitting on a slice of sweet and juicy orange inside the netted pavilion . Children looking at an information book about butterflies. A child noticing veins in butterfly wings in an illustration of a butterfly in a book and comparing them with veins in their arm. A Painted Lady butterfly on their maiden voyage, landing on some wild flowers in the nursery garden.

The weather was perfect to release our butterflies that emerged over the weekend. The children enjoyed observing them in their pavilion before we set them free in the garden. We used information books to find out more about butterflies and learnt new vocabulary such as proboscis and camouflage.

Latest Journal of Emergent Science includes a 'collective article' on mixed-age classes, with teachers sharing practice from a range of schools.

What would you like the next collective article to focus on?

What primary science practice would you like to share?

Using a magnifying glass to observe the tiny caterpillars on day 3. Using play dough, the children estimated how big they thought the caterpillars would be the following day. They are growing fast. The children used other methods, such as hands, to estimate how big the caterpillars might be the next day. Five caterpillars in their habitat on day 7. They have grown so much!

The children observed the caterpillars this week. They observed their behaviour and watched them grow. They estimated how big they would grow over night!
“The caterpillars are climbing”
“Mine made a letter C”
“The look spiky”
“I see their poo”
“Is caterpillar boy or girl?”
“It will be a butterfly”

Similes like this are so helpful; it seems really obvious when you say it out loud but there is a genuine perspective shift when you're emphatic that the point of your teaching is not to create 15 essays, but 15 students who can write an essay.
