David Hurles botd (1944–2023). I was lucky to meet & work w/ Mineshaft artist REX (1943–2024) on David’s Green Candy book. Spent a night on the Castro w/ Rex, & a day in his flat & the archive, both above The Magazine, Bob & Trent’s shop on Larkin. Pics: Speeding; David’s mugs; Mongoose; art by REX.

Most of what I miss about my old neighbourhood no longer exists, change happens.

Found it! (see last post) My ticket to The Second Annual Art Director's Club of Toronto Auction. June 1988!!! At the Copa in Yorkville. I think they were auctioning off work by local illustrators. I'm pretty sure my new boss at Ink bought some pieces.

Here's another one of my Toronto drawings. OK Bazaar was near Queen & De Grassi streets. It closed over 30 years ago! The Copa was a nightclub in Yorkville (on one of the t-shirts). I still have my ticket from The Art Directors Club of Toronto Awards event at The Copa, from when I worked at Ink.

Yesterday I discovered the Rotherhithe Picture Research Gallery, a non-profit educational trust, housed and supported by Sands Films Studio. Essentially an alphabetized library of scrapbooks and related material. I think I will be spending a lot of time in here.

A few people have asked me if I miss Toronto. I was already missing parts of Toronto before I left! This is one of 50 one-metre-square drawings I did of Toronto landmarks during my last couple of years in the city. These Dominion Coal and Wood Co. silos were on Bayview Avenue from 1929 to 2001.

My first post! A scene in London Fields a few years ago, a BBQ w/ friends, where I decided to relocate w/ my partner Alexx, to London. It has been a long journey! Perhaps a good time to check out some alternative social platforms like bluesky … also trying Cara, Mastodon, Pixelfed, … any recommends?
