Agreed. Valve has played an important role in the adoption of Linux to more people. Because of them using an Arch based base for their OS, they showed that Linux is more than capable of gaming to people who would originally not think otherwise

Watching Linux desktop marketshare double year over year has been immensely gratifying.

Steam Deck aside, I don't think we'd be here without Valve's amazing work on bringing the display stack up to feature parity with Windows.
