Even still, it kills me to see what has happened to it. People's careers were swept aside because of this conspiracy theorist. A LOT of significant research had stopped. The CDC was such an asset and it's now gone as we knew it.

It's a loss for us all.

I knew early in university that if med school didn't happen, I would find virology & microbiology appealing and would use that as a fallback. I had books upon books of virus hunters and was somewhat obsessed. To me, the thought of working for the CDC was a dream. One I would never achieved.
