Labor market impacts of AI: A new measure and early evidence Anthropic is an AI safety and research company that's working to build reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems.

Playing catch-up on this @anthropic.com report released earlier today and got stuck on this line: "Workers in the most exposed professions are more likely to be older, female, more educated, and higher-paid". Sigh! www.anthropic.com/research/lab...

Gas prices suddenly up to $4.99 a gallon for regular in my corner of LA. Premium is already over $5!

I guess this explains why I'm suddenly getting a surge in French spam (on top of the English stuff I've been getting). Looks like the city of Paris (or at least their adult class site) was hacked.

Would be great to do something on the west coast too…either LA or SF. There’s a bunch of us out here.

Here's your M&A math lesson for the day: IAC bought care.com for $500 million in 2020 and is now selling it to a PE firm for $320 almost 6 years later. Look for it to go public again in a few years. Wash, rinse, repeat. www.prnewswire.com/news-release...

There's still time to get your guesses in for how many 10-Ks will be filed by the end of today. Now that markets are closed, the deluge will begin! The person who comes closest gets a signed copy of my book. Respond below or via email: ml@footnoted.com

Today’s a big deadline day for 10-Ks. Guess the total number filed today to win a signed copy of my book. All guesses due by 4:30 ET.

It is, but I don’t think it’s THE championship. I think there’s still another round or two.

Kind of glad my kid isn't the sporty type. Seems crazy to charge $100 for courtside seats for a HS basketball game. Only in LA!

Problems keep mounting for Edison Longtime readers probably already know that footnoted world headquarters is a short drive from Altadena, the site of an absolutely horrific fire on Jan. 7, 2025 known as the Eaton Fire.

Just posted this to footnoted of the week subscribers. Paid subscribers received this post a week ago.

You'd think that Atkins would be eager to highlight this massive failure given that it largely happened on Gensler's watch. But instead, he's pushing for more IPOs.

Exhibit A: Remember SPACs? Just asked Gemini for some statistics: of the 795 companies that went public via a SPAC over the past 5 years, more than 90% are trading below the $10 price they went public at. Median performance is down 65%-70%. But, yes, let's make IPOS Great Again! (2/2)

SEC Chair Paul Atkins likes to wax about the glory days of publicly traded companies. Keeps saying there were 7800 public companies in the mid-1990s and that number has dropped by 40%. The problem is that more public companies doesn't necessarily mean better ones! (1/2)
