A gold ring with black enamel on the outside forming an image of a skeleton in the gold. Faint traces of an inscription are visible inside the band.

As spooky season lingers on, I’m thinking about the concept of Memento Mori (remember you will die). This ring has an incredible skeleton design on the outside, as a reminder to both the wearer and observer. Inside is an inscription for a departed loved one.

Iain Maclachlan's tune.. written c 1958. It became Dark Island in 1962, renamed for the BBC TV series of that name,

A blistering guitar solo, and lovely kazoo work. Of course it's a good song to go with it.

AI started off as a fun tool, and has many artistic & novel uses. But, the horrific side is instead of aiding musicians', authors' artists', and academics' work; it is being used to replace it with cons galore & nobody bats an eye. Frankenstein's monster has been unleashed to run riot.

I love finding and collecting old reviews that have a touch of irony about them. This was written by one Paul Screeton, for the Hartlepool Northern Daily Mail. October 1977. Punk was not his 'thing'.

I was once whingeing to Paul McCartney that I'll always be known primarily for the Wombles. Straight-faced, without irony, he said, "Yeah, I have the same problem with The Beatles".πŸ˜‚

I watched. I didn't want to text and interrupt, as you were in full flow (apart from one siren distraction). A new year, and hopefully better on all grounds for you. I look forward to the book and of course an album in the near future.

Thanks for keeping us straight on that. The weekend starts here. I was chronologically confused. More calendar versus head confusion to come next week.

Re-Christmas battle for UK number 1. Wasn't Last Christmas the number 1 last Christmas? Or is Last Christmas the number 1, this Christmas? It seems like only Last Christmas that Last Christmas was number 1. I do wish they would change the record. Last Christmas, is just sooo last Christmas.

It feels pretty much like a minority platform, with our posts going largely ignored. Although millions shifted on to here, it still feels like tumbleweed drifting in the desert. It doesn't feel high to me yet, on the 'must post' priority scale.

On Twitter I kept getting followed by various 'Susanna Hoffs'
(sic), Half a dozen of her. Alas the real one not, it was in fact, only a bot.

A long time ago, in a musical galaxy far away - I danced to 'Sound and Vision' at discos. Pre-80's Bowie, it was one of those tracks that had a great danceability factor.

No touring performer should watch 'four in a bed'. They go round trying to find the tiniest 'short & curly', & err - 'bodily stains'. Imagine their reaction to some of the digs/hotels that are used by performers. Trigger warnings may be required. Compulsive pubic hair checking is a thing!

Just to clarity I meant 'this platform' as in their platform "Internet Archive". not 'this platform', "bluesky". Copyright in UK terms is 70 years after the death of an author/composer.. which is why John Lennon's songs are in (C). Recordings may be out of (C), but the songs themselves may not.

We are in fact a moon-sized super-weapon capable of destroying a planet.

I just found a newspaper photo of myself in 1989. I don't remember being there. I don't remember it being taken. What is interesting & sad is that those were the days when Inverness Museum had an archaeologist. A curatorial post long axed. They also provided an outreach service & point of contact.

Kirsty MacColl's demise was one of the great tragedies, irrespective of who she was. She died instinctively and heroically pushing her son out of the way. There was no justice served out to the rich perpetrator. IF the tweet was real Darren Grimes would be an ignorant and arrogant w----r.

You have the right to transfer and make available old 78's but not the right if the songs themselves are still in copyright. As it is you breach copyright on this platform, especially by making files downloadable.

A close up a an incredibly spoiled and loved golden retriever. His 2 eyes, snoot and nose fill the frame. He looks ever so slightly concerned about something (although this is perfectly normal for him).

Maybe a bad night.. you saw it on a good night. Isn't it sad no-one captured his best take on it? I will delete. I would though get Sony to register an alternate title for 'If You Were A Sailboat', to cover all bases as 'If U Were A Sailboat'.. computer matching relies on small details.

Also don't forget that Spotify have scrapped small payments for small artists who don't get thousands of plays in a year. Effectively supporting Spotify is supporting pirates, who are stealing music with no comeback.

Talk about sprightly! The world will be a lesser place when Dick Van Dyke finally dances off into the distance. In a jaded social media world, that was heart warming in a genuine way.

Who knew that 'home' cassettes would in a decade be almost dead as a recording format? When I was a media student, I did a course in 4 track sound recording - using Tascam cassette recorders (the college was impoverished). Then computers and the digital age came in and erased it all.
