The cover of the graphic novel of Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. A stained glass depicts some of the characters in the novel.
πI remembered I had backed up this graphic novel on Kickstarter (or something: I'm ageing), but I hadn't checked when it was due,so it was a lovely surprise to get it today. It's really wonderful, @colleendoran.bsky.social you did such an awesome job! @goodomensnews.bsky.social #pratchett #goodomens

A large green praying mantis perched on the side of a cactus plant in a terracotta vase. More succulent plants in another vase can be seen in the background. On the left, part of a solar garden decoration on a piece of tree trunk can be seen.
For my continuing series featuring #Critters in my #garden, here is our latest acquisition. I'm guessing it's a she because she's rather large, no less than 8cm. I've read that the presence of #prayingmantis means the garden is healthy and #biodiverse, is it true? I'd never seen one in over 50years!

Listening to Jeremy Vine's show on BBC2. Don't you just love how the first way Conservatives in the UK propose to save money is to cut help to people with depression and mental health issues? Robin Hood in reverse π€’

Pale grey square background with black art nouveau border and text reading "World Alzheimer's Day". Below it sits a blue logo for the Alzheimer's Society in Arial text and a blue and yellow flower.
Today is World Alzheimer's Day, and we are proud to be supporting the Alzheimer's Society as one of our chosen charities, a cause that Sir Terry also endorsed. Take a look at their website here: www.alzheimers.org.uk/

A bottle of rum punch called Strong Rum Punch; on its left, a glass of punch prepared with it. Both things are on a blue chequered tablecloth with red fruits on it. In the background there are some trees and it is possible to make out the shapes of two caravans.
Forgot to post this yesterday for the Rum thingy over at @dwcon.org - here's a nice little hot drink they have here in the Austrian mountains π₯ I guess it might be Nanny Ogg's nightcap π #discworld #nannyogg

And I agree on the humour being a sorely needed factor, in addition - for me - to the lack of sex scenes, something I really appreciate. Although there might be some goings-on in later books I don't think they might become the focus of the narrative - a thing I hate!

I've watched the WoT series but haven't read it so far. David Eddings's Belgariad, now that I think of it, had this Carl touch where the monsters would get bigger and bigger, the situations more and more complicated and the characters had a nice humorous streak.

Although I've read my fair share of page-turning series (Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London, or The Expanse) this is starting to rank rather high ππ©
