[Image description: Close-up photo of a vintage typewriter. The Scottish BPOC Writers Network logo is on the top right. The text reads: "I write, therefore I am (a writer)" by Deborah de Oliveira. End of description.]

Is "I am a writer" the hardest sentence to write? A conversation about the struggles of defining ourselves as writers: https://scottishbpocwritersnetwork.org/i-write-therefore-i-am-a-writer/ Hit repost for more!

A pastel painting of a wall covered in light blue plaster, with a large chunk of the plaster missing, revealing strongly coloured blue tiles underneath.

Here's today's pastel practice - a Renfrew pub wall, plaster and concrete crumbling to reveal the beautiful original tiles underneath. Pretty happy with this one.

2 figures with glowing heads floating in front of a bright white orb in outer space. The sky is purple. The image is in a black frame with a thin white border. There are horizontal blue lines running down the left and right side of the frame. It says "An album by Superdestroyer + Leave Nelson B" at the top. Under this in a box is "Nelson Comes To Visit Vol. 2:" and in a box underneath that "negative thoughts about myself and people I love dearly. The album cover on a VHS cassette box with the tag line "those that hurt us most are the ones we love". Next to this is a cassette tape with the album name on the sticker.

My new album with @leavenelsonb.bsky.social is out now! Listen to Nelson Comes To Visit Vol. 2 on Bandcamp and streaming tonight!

text reading "$1700 to writers in gaza" with an image of four zines by authors in gaza

did some math and figured out sheer spite was able to move just over $1,700 last year to the three Gaza-based writers we distribute:

A burgeoning AI boycott plasters the NYC subway New Yorkers began vandalizing ads for dystopian AI products bombarding the city last fall, sparking a larger movement of AI rejection

“As tech giants force-feed AI inevitability marketing and trumpet the technology’s supposed benefits to society, a robust AI-resistance movement has emerged in response.”

A group of ducks relax on a sidewalk in an urban area at night. The ground is paved with large stone tiles, and bicycles and carts are visible in the background near a modern building with large glass windows and black pillars.

They’re back! GoGo, Punk, and the MLK Library duck fam have returned for duckling season. It’s still cold outside, but this is our official sign that spring is on the way. 😍

I don't want to feel ashamed of being a digital- only artist, but I am. I don't want to think it's lesser but isn't having an original drawing more special than a digital print? Even if that's true, owning physical media isn't the only way to be touched by art. I've seen all of my favourite art through a screen. The message matters as much as the medium. So I think it's probably fine. Art is so much more than process and outcome. Every artist's journey is paved with hope and heartbreak; pride age self-loathing; discipline and whimsy; skill, taste and humanity. And that's why art made with generative AI is disgusting. So I've decided that it doesn't fucking matter whether my art is traditional or digital; messy or neat. I'm here. I'm alive and I'm makimg the art I want to. That's enough.

Part 5 [FINAL] I've decided that it's not that deep and that creating anything at all is good.
