We are updating our Aims and Scope and wish to inform you that Climate and Development is principally a qualitative social science journal with an interdisciplinary audience. As such we are currently not considering any manuscripts with quantitative methods for peer review.

Authors: Please remember that we are a double blind journal. Therefore it is important to remove your names from the manuscript. If you leave it on the first page, it delays the review process because we need to go in and remove your name - this always involves several steps.

Call for Associate Editors for Climate and Development with expertise in climate change mitigation and/or urban adaptation issues
Journal website: https://www.tandfonline.com/journals/tcld20
The academic journal Climate and Development published by Taylor and Francis and edited by Co-Editors Jonathan Ensor and Lisa Schipper and a small number of Associate Editors, is calling for new Associate Editors starting in 2025. Associate Editors are key members of the editorial team, bringing subject expertise and a network of contacts to the journal.
Each AE works closely with the Co-Editors and other AEs to ensure that the journal review process operates smoothly. The main task of the AE is to be responsible for a share of the submitted manuscripts, seeing them through from initial review to the final approval. This involves communication with authors, reviewers and with the Co-Editors. Like the other editorial roles, the role is unpaid, however AEs receive a subscription to the journal.
AEs handle around 10 manuscripts at any one time, ushering them through the review process following initial assignment by the Co-Editors-in-Chief (EiCs). AEs use the ScholarOne review portal, will receive training from the publisher, Taylor and Francis, for this. Each AE should anticipate dedicating an average of one to two hours per week to the journal.
Prospective AEs should understand the vision of Climate and Development, and agree with its goals and ethos, and its Aims and Scope. In particular, AEs should share our emphasis on levelling the playfield for scholars from the Global South through mentoring, constructive feedback, and reviewing opportunities. More information on our approach can be found in recent editorials: https://doi.org/10.1080/17565529.2019.1577673 and https://doi.org/10.1080/17565529.2021.1923308
With this in mind, we are looking for:
1. Expertise in social dimensions of greenhouse gas mitigation with social science or interdisciplinary methods and/or social dimensions of urban adaptation.
2. Someone who enjoys teamwork but has time, motivation and organisational skills to undertake the tasks of the role on their own.
3. Someone with significant publishing experience, ideally including in Climate and Development.
4. Someone with an academic background that is climate and development related.
Because our submissions are mainly from the Global South, please note that we will give preference to AEs from the Global South, however we still encourage researchers from the Global North to apply if they fit the profile.
Please send a brief motivation letter explaining how you meet these criteria as well as a brief CV showing your publication record and research areas by 10 March 2025 to both Co-Editors β jon.ensor@york.ac.uk and lschipper@uni-bonn.de
