Research time is about 10-20% if you are lucky (and have headspace left for anything). 🤯

While COP30 winds down, I recorded episode 5 of the COPOut Podcast with the amazing @amywestervelt.bsky.social and @katharinehayhoe.com today. The whole episode airs on Monday, but here's a little preview of the amazing conversation:
21.11.2025 21:41 — 👍 54 🔁 22 💬 6 📌 0INVITATIONS: There are also a few invitations. There are strong “requests” issued to COP presidencies. There are also “invitations” for countries to take action, such as the “call” to triple adaptation finance. Notably, “call” is the weakest verb that can be used.

COP30 TEXT ANALYSIS: One way to read dense COP text is to focus on the verbs. These are helpfully italicised – and for good reason.
MOSTLY INACTIVE: Carbon Brief analysis of the “global mutirão” text finds 69 inactive verbs, requiring no action, against 32 active verbs.
