05.08.2025 15:45 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0partly thanks to me, two US cities use approval voting, which is just a simplified form of score voting. absolutely nothing about that reality matches your claim.
approval.vote
My proposal specifically allows you to use approval voting on your party's list to affect the order. that gives voters who do want to vote for individual candidates a tremendous amount of flexibility. it's like a simplified version of latvia's system.
05.08.2025 15:40 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 01. what is dead in the water is complexity. Even non-proportional single winner STV got obliterated in 2011.
2. this system compromises by letting them vote for the candidates on the list to at least affect the order.
3. You've cited zero evidence voters care about this anyway.
I'm one of the world's top experts on this subject, so if you're going to make an argument you're going to need some really powerful evidence.

what about the fact that strategic score/approval is better than honest voting in most other systems?

Make it simple so it has a chance in hell of passing.

but you need a PR mechanism that is simple and practical, and that's where I think approval voting and party list are the only reasonable options.

We need to be loud about every meeting. Every letter to the editor.
Iโm worried that RCV is an intentional wedge issue that stops voting reform. Alternative Vote (an RCV method) failed in the UK because of its complexity.
No matter how much we want proportional representation the UK, RCV will cause it to fail.
Our opponents are counting on it.
I think you mean to say that it's non-excludable. whether it's rivalrous isn't the issue.
02.08.2025 16:56 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I don't see any point in bicameralism. latvia's Congress uses a 100 member unicameral body. it's party list, but you can prioritize your party's list by checking to approve or disapprove people so it's basically score voting.
