Dear Keith, how are you? What do you think about Reddit as a new platform for games? I ask because as a game developer my biggest challenge is no longer making the game - it's getting people to notice I've made a game. Like Stackword, available now at reddit.com/r/stackword

I haven't really done anything with this beyond posting it in a couple of places on Reddit (and little rounds of bugfixes), but it is pleasant seeing half a dozen people playing it every day (and literally beating me at my own game). Someone played it for 45 minutes today!

Here is a small reminder that I 'released' a new puzzle game on Reddit at the start of this year. It's called Stackword and you build towers of words by removing, adding or changing letters each time.

This is so good. Also touches on Exile at the end, a game that was as far ahead of its time as Elite. It took years for designers to learn its' lessons, if they ever did - most people haven't played it but you can glimpse it in every metroidvania, every physics puzzle game, every emergent roguelike.

A Game Developer Without Internet Iran has been without internet for 9 days. Arash sent a letter as a developer without the internet, in the few moments when the great firewall faltered.

Iran has killed all connections to the outside. But in the early morning the regular internet works briefly. In that time, @hackimi.bsky.social sent me a letter about what it's like being a developer without the internet as the government tries to squash everyone:

I put my new word puzzle game Stackword on Reddit. A few aesthetic things left to sort but it's close to done now. This was one of the final steps, because _theoretically_ it will just sit there in its own sub forever* and kick out a new puzzle every day.
