Aragones is a master cartoonist. The page layouts are mostly in a traditional 9 panel grid. There’s one page that uses diagonal panels as the characters are pulling a rock up a hill. It conveys motion while also helping the joke. It’s just fantastic storytelling. I’m a huge fan of Groo and Aragones.

Today is the birthday of writer & artist Fletcher Hanks (Dec. 1, 1889-Jan. 22, 1976). He was only active in the comic industry for three years but is remembered for his unique style & unusual creations such as Stardust the Super Wizard & Fantomah.

Fantasy Zone clean artwork used on the cover of the MSX, Sega Saturn (Sega Ages), and PlayStation 2 (Sega Ages 2500: Vol.3) releases in Japan. Image depicts Opa-Opa facing against several enemies in a colorful scenery where a lake with smaller ponds and waterfalls can be seen, as well as flowers and some greenery. there are some mountains further back in the distance with a purple blueish sky above.

The artwork of Fantasy Zone used on the cover of the #MSX, #SegaSaturn (Sega Ages), and #PlayStation 2 (Sega Ages 2500: Vol.3) releases in Japan. Simple upscale with a slight retouch since the source was excellent. No clue on the artist, any info let me know!
