I have a PhD in chemistry and I do productive work with my hands all day. I use a pallet jack like once a week. I haul around dewars of liquid nitrogen and gas cylinders. I was emailing someone about a gantry on Monday.

Have you ever known of an NMR quench to occur due to a sample arcing? Probe damage?

What’s the biggest problem you’ve seen from arcing?

I’ve only ever seen deposition on the rotor, the ugliest FID, and then the NMR manager went “lol we’re done.” This was from cooling metal oxides down to -30°C ⚡️
