Claiming Gaza is a 'sectarian' issue is both blatantly racist & blind to why we all care about Gaza. As new Green MP Hannah Spencer said last night 'Whether its on our doorsteps or across the world, if somebody is being oppressed or suffering an injustice, I will always speak up'

9,600 redundancies at just 24 universities. Imagine what the picture is for the sector as a whole. This is the other half of the student loan scandal picture, which has been national news lately. Nothing at all from the government on a key sector effectively in freefallβ¦

All good things come to an end
It is with great sadness that we are sharing the news that the UCL Faculties of Social & Historical Sciences and Arts & Humanities have decided to close the IAS on 31 July 2026.
They're closing down the best bit of the university (for no reason other than the higher ups apparently thinking this model of collaboration and interdisciplinarity isn't STEMmy enough)

The cover artwork titled 'Unfinished Fragments' was created by Palestinian geographer Samir Harb. The drawing purposely appears as incomplete to convey this sense of βno State,β a decentralized model where heterogeneous fragments exist alongside each other.

I am so ANGRY watching this Reform press conference. How can we just let them get away with saying they will deport "hundreds of thousands" of people here "illegally" and in the same breath say that they will make it illegal to simply be here. These policies are horrifically racist and DANGEROUS.

We have heard many reports of violent policing in Manchester on Saturday.
Police kettled demonstrators to ensure the far-right march could go ahead.
There will be a callout for witnesses for various incidents later this week. please share this!

There's no money for anything else, but: 'UKRI committed a record Β£1.6 billion of funding directly targeted at the AI sector over the next four years. This is UKRIβs biggest single investment area for 2026 to 2030.' Growth, growth, growth, nothing about flourishing or a liveable society. Pathetic.

graduate unemployment is actually not the fault of graduates who are right to want the academic and social benefits of tertiary education. Govt should demonise themselves, not arts degrees. If there aren't enough jobs for graduates, what does that say about how these people have managed the country?

Screen shot from Paul Emberyβs X account:
Respect to this police officer. Confronted by radicals demanding the arrest of a Christian preacher on the grounds that Whitechapel "is a Muslim area" she was calm and professional and
gave them short shrift. Let's see more of this from the police.
Has a video of a woman police officer talking to a group of Muslim men
This clip is all over the other place and has made its way onto GB News and Talk TV so Iβll do a bit of an explainer here too!
The clip doing the rounds is of a fantastic police officer telling a group of Muslim men that a Christian preacher nearby is entitled to freedom of expression.

People pointing out that this means the UK isn't producing high quality jobs, which is surely part of this, but specifically consider pay. Loads of cultural jobs in the UK are so poorly paid that only the already wealthy can afford to do them; look at museum curator jobs in London

As we have repeatedly tried to explain to a government intent on punishing universities, graduate outcomes will always be poor if you underpay every sector. (Nb y axis starting at 50)
