I only say “important“ because the corporate empire of Best Buy, where I worked, drilled this and Barbie Girl, into our head hours a day, everyday, on loop, even during the holidays…. Important only because my brain has a Manchurian style link to it. I hate it but still tap to it…

Oh it’s fine, life decided I was due for a different path so as humans instinctively do, I adjusted. I tried going skiing with my oldest daughter a few years back. I made it down once and my lower body was gone. I also now have both fake hips and a left fibula removed (not replaced). It had a time.

CO ski trip with my dad, 15yrs old, doing moguls on a double Blue. My ski caught snow, crossed and binding were tight so splintered the shin, tore ACL and ripped cartilage out. Carbon fiber brace afterwards but only got to 80% ability back so ended scholarships/training.

That’s basically how it took out my knee when I did it at 16yrs old. That was skill and lots of luck. And amazing balance and mental control of not to panic. Losing control at those speeds, on moguls with jumps…. We called it fields of buried VW Bugs and they hurt just like them. Ended mine at 16

I put it into a Savings and also made extra principal mortgage payments, but I also have a ROTH IRA that I put into as well, with older 401k's from older jobs. It's nice to have it all in one place again though. Yes, we can go through hoops to get the same results, or hire more FTE. 😀

Because that will make money off the younger audience. I asked when I got my first hip replacement when they were going to advance tech in that. He said why? No money in a product that a vast majority will die within the product lifetime. Sadly for me that doesn’t apply and will require many.

The other issue now is like myself prior to recently, I was a contractor for about a decade and jumped from project to project based work in 6 month increments. Some I was at for years, others 6mos, but none had a 401k. So I had to just move money to a savings account. Now I’m FTE, I have it.

It’s so funny to think about the fact that there’s people out there deferring every life decision to this
