The fact they call those pointing out that what may lie ahead for Syria may be worse than before “Assadists” just shows their analysis is stuck in a Marvel cinematic universe of “good vs bad guys.”

Imperialism, which is the principle contradiction. Imperialism, which landed us here in the first place. Defeating imperialism MUST be the first priority if you want people like Assad to be replaced by ACTUAL freedom

I don’t blame some Syrian people for thinking that this is a good thing. And maybe for some individual Syrian people, it WILL be a good thing. But that doesn’t make them experts in geopolitics. Very few people in any country are, even as it pertains to their own country

The entire framing of “freedom” in this conversation is absurd. Freedom from one axis of oppression by way of another grants you very little, if any, actual freedom. People died for a US-backed coup that is Syrian in name only
