I’ll be reading a scene or two, possibly involving a drone or a cat or athletic socks—fiction, from my novel— featuring some weirdo artist types. It might be funny! Looking forward to seeing you and the LA sun, though even in Chicago tonight, there’s the bright full moon—

I think I have officially taught a long time because I saw not one but two of my former students today, the first of whom, as a freshman, was in my artists’ books and zines class at DePaul and now works at the Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago

End of Term Web Archive – Preserving the Transition of a Nation | Internet Archive Blogs

The Internet Archive has to date downloaded 500 terabytes of US government websites, which it crawls at the end of every presidential term. The whole archive is fully searchable. This effort's housed by a donation-funded nonprofit, not a branch of the US government. blog.archive.org/2024/05/08/e...

UPDATE: Secret Service agents — not ICE — were denied entry at a Chicago school despite initial CPS reports, a CPS source said.

Secret Service agents were looking for an 11-year-old who posted an anti-Trump video, the source said. https://buff.ly/3EatFDz

On the first day of the new semester, I tried to appeal to my students’ concerns for the environment by telling them how energy consumptive AI is 🤞🏻

I supplied my nephews, niece, and child with disposable cameras and had them shoot a photo a day on our summer trip. I also asked them to write a line each day, but part of the text was lost when my child misplaced her bag so I used only the photos for the zine. My sisters and their husbands 1/2

To clarify: I don’t so much care if the videos show drones or aircrafts or UFOs or something else entirely. Just collecting information for a novel

Some of the videos look like three laser pointer lights in the sky to me, like something cats would chase 🤣

If anyone on this platform comes across posts about the mysterious “drone” sightings, please forward to me. I’m interested in them for research purposes.

What are the ladybugs in Chicago doing this December 9th? Earlier this afternoon I shot 15 videos of different ladybugs outside of UIC’s University Hall where there is a wind tunnel, but I don’t think that explains the strange (and late?) appearance of the ladybugs that should be hibernating

Two of the questions posed in this insightful piece: “How many other people are in this position, too ill and poor to afford affordable housing? And too poor to be homeless?”
