Manuscript Figure 2: Photographs of the SD-1663 right partial os coxae in different views. A) lateral, B) medial, C) anterolateral focused on the acetabulum, and D) Zoomed in view of the eroded acetabular margin that is also crushed superomedially. The fossil preserves most of the acetabulum, part of the superior pubic ramus, part of the ischial body, and part of the iliac blade. The greater sciatic notch is fully preserved and is a narrow, J-shape.

New #OpenAccess article alert!

@paleonicole.bsky.social led this first description of a partial right #Neandertal hipbone from El Sidrón, Spain that expands the range of morphological variation in Neandertals.

Read it here: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

This is a weird request, but anyone in Baltimore area want to help me collect tap water samples this summer? I can give you some vials, you go to a couple restaurants/grocery stores/public water fountains and we get some critical science done for forensic work

A Small but Capable Walker: New Fossil Discovery Sheds Light on Paranthropus robustus Piecing Together an Elusive Skeleton

A Paranthropus robustus fossil from Swartkrans shows it walked upright—and was tiny. Was it also a tool user? Researchers are investigating. #HumanEvolution #FossilFind #ParanthropusRobustus #Swartkrans

Cartoon showing a woman looking in to a microscope saying "Whoaah!!!" The caption states "The best part of Science is knowing, for a moment, something that nobody else in the world knows"

A reminder in these hard times. #sciencestrong

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is always a bittersweet one: it is time for awareness of the benefits of gender equality to advance science, but when we are promoting scientific careers... what careers are those?

An absolute pleasure to contribute to this project led by @paleonicole.bsky.social and @liabetti.bsky.social. Pubic symphysis fusion in primates is fascinating and complicated, and studying it is shedding light on the 'obstetrical dilemma'.
