Ida seems nice until you catch her mid-yawn, when she looks like a dang alien.

So rare, aren’t they? We get the occasional gully-washer over here on the Main and every time I notice folks don’t know how to deal with it…nor the infrastructure!

Betty Farrall Obituary - Athens, GA Celebrate the life of Betty Farrall, leave a kind word or memory and get funeral service information care of Bernstein Funeral Home.

Last week a bright light went out from my earliest years. Mrs Farrall was the first choir director I ever knew. I am so grateful for the love she showed us all.

My god, would you please give a little personal space? Maybe 5 inches or so would do it. Sheesh.

In the organist’s secret hideaway at the cemetery. This place has everything!

The sun is setting in the background. In the foreground, a river with both left and right banks visible but dark. The picture was taken from atop a dam, in the middle of the river.

Our students told me stories from their internships today, in seminar. They work with some very vulnerable people with very different needs.

Once again they showed me that I get to work with people who care fiercely for others.

The whole being a professor thing was a choice I made many years ago. I haven’t done it perfectly. I didn’t establish a research agenda. I prefer teaching students. I am glad I got out of the US a while back, but here where I work it feels like there is a noose tightening around our neck sometimes.

Two middle-aged white guys are standing together in a park and looking at the camera. On the left the man is wearing a black shirt with a priest’s collar. On the right the man is wearing a blue shirt. Both are smiling.

My colleague and friend. I love this guy!

A balding middle aged white guy in glasses is standing next to an older woman with gray hair and a striped shirt. In the background is the interior of a gothic church. On the left and right, columns. In the back, a large stained glass window. A middle-aged man and an older woman sit beside each other with their arms crossed. They are looking at each other. They are seated outdoors at a restaurant table.

I spent some wonderful time with my mother this summer.
