A major new review published in World Psychiatry (15 May 2025) highlights that digital mental health tools (apps, AI, and VR) are most effective when paired with human coaching. 🧵

By co-developing speculative and participatory design methodologies with young people, the lab will deepen and foster non-western understandings and reimaginations of digital environments, to develop new methods and strategies for youth work.

Youth Digital Cultures Lab is our latest Feasibility Study to hit the runway! Led by The Pranava Institute, the project brings together diverse young people from India to meaningfully engage with their experiences of diversity, joy and meaningful #inclusion in #digital environments.

We’ll soon be publishing another of his posts, with early insights into how the Principles are being co-developed by the communities we work with, and how they might contribute to a broader understanding of the digital inclusion landscape (e.g. in relation to the UK’s Digital Inclusion Action Plan).

We're delighted to be funding a second Feasibility Study led by YouthLink Scotland. 'Our Futures and AI' will be led by young people, creating guidance and resources to contribute to the positive and constructive use of AI, particularly in relation to the young people’s own context.

Drawing on @ofcom.bsky.social’s Online Nation 2023 report, which highlights the prevalence of such online harm, the project takes an intersectional approach to understand how vulnerabilities accumulate across gender, race, sexuality, and disability.

Current public service systems assume fast, fluent communication and digital proficiency, excluding many with language disabilities such as aphasia. This project seeks to address the challenge by creating practical, aphasia-friendly resources while advocating for more inclusive public services.
