my girlfriend wrote all of this and I worked on it as a programmer and UX designer and also we got an artist who did a really fantastic job and I'm proud of all of us. you should play it
Troubling. Fire Emblem did not prepare me for this possibility
Growing up playing Fire Emblem I thought that 'mercenary captain' had to be the best job in the world and now that I'm 30 and a game designer I still think that
Watched Foxfur yesterday. Don't think I've ever seen another movie that captured what life was like in 2012 this well
I also can't stress enough that this entire movie is shot like, written like, and acted like in a gangster movie instead of high fantasy. They do like three seperate heists complete with a "I'm putting together a team"
When Arthur was still growing up in the criminal underbelly of Londinium he was taught Kung Fu by Kung Fu George
Yeah but he has to go to the shadow realm to learn to wield it, after which it allows him to do time stop
Ngl I thought the first reactielon to this tweet would've been "who in the world is Kung Fu George"
Do you think it's antisectional to fail to consider that gambling might the primary avenue of queer liberation in the post-material era? do you? don't you? when the revolution comes I'll be facing the firing squad, I've been told
I see this on Tumblr every now and then but sometimes in much saner places, too. I'll be scrolling and suddenly see two people arguing if Marx would be pro or anti 'gacha' games
You ever stumble on discourse from a community you are not in and straight up cannot parse anything either side is saying? It's like stumbling into an episode of Star Trek. Every now and then I take a mental step back and just observe myself to make sure no opinions *I* hold veer into this territory
OTH the Elder Scrolls total conversion modding team for CK3 seems to understand this whole 'game design' shit fucking perfectly.
Neither of these are fun, interesting, engaging, and completely annihilate the only saving grace Crusader Kings 3 has as a game: fun emergent narratives from a semi-simulationist world
-grinding out passive modifiers until you stack a number high enough that the game engine cannot possibly get history back on track when you start demolishing the game like some sort of isekai protagonist
-plays out according to prescripted event timelines anyway to make sure the mod doesn't go off course from the 'lore' too much. Meaning you either click through automated popups while not touching the 20-layer-deep feudal micromanagement nightmare, or you're on the edge of the map-
Crusader Kings 3 has a Game of Thrones mod which octouples the size of the world map and creates an unnavigable mess of half a million named characters with their own AI scripts in their own situations and event chains that ultimately do not add anything to the game because everything-
I find this so annoying? Modders often seem to think that adding 18 million new mechanics is like, fun or good? Once again proves that gamers are the last people who should be making games
Going through the mailbox like hmmm, bills, bills, taxes, bills, oh, the fucking Jedi Order Weekly Magazine advertising their ballet performance to raise money for their fight against the evil empire. Ok.
The Falun Gong put a newspaper in my mail box and this feels like reading shit from a parallel universe. Aside from most of the text being AI generated ("it's not just x -- it's Y!") it's staggering how much of this reads like Star Wars lore
Is Guy Ritchie's King Arthur the strongest King Arthur?
- only Arthur trained by Kung Fu George
- only Arthur that grew up a as peasant (rags to riches is A tier writing scaling)
- only Arthur that can do time stop
Does Guy Ritchie Arthur outscale Artoria Pendragon???
I'm working on two new games alongside doing writing and scenario work for @kowloonscurse.bsky.social but all of these are quite a whiles away from being done, so until then this is your regular reminder that 'Kowloon's Curse: Lost Report' is FREE on steam:

Even though the practice was quite rare, during slavery in the US it did happen with some regularity that people would eat human meat from slaves, which was by the communities that did this not actually regarded as cannibalism, because slaves were seen as cattle, not people
Been reading about historical cannibalism and it's really funny how most of the western world was completely fine with eating people until very recently and we all just memoryholed this and now pretend we would NEVER, EVER eat poor people. It's almost always left out of historical portrayals as well
Wonderful German invention. 'Humanol,' human meat/fat suspended in alcohol for injections. An evolution of the medieval German practice of "Armsünderschmalz," literally 'Poor sinner's fat,' eating the fat of the poor who were put to death/executed.
Fell out of favour as medicine in the 1950s.
I should probably migrate to this website full time because the other place is really really really bad for me but ugh I like having 4k followers and reliable 10k like bangers and I dont want to 'account build' fucking all over again the next two years
And when I say "mildly rude" I mean I was drunk and described how I thought they should end their lives and how to livestream it to their family
They banned me on the other website for being mildly rude to an american rando who chimed in to tell me i'm not a real author. They do this all the time. I post about gamedev and six bluechecks swing by to tell me "you're not a real gamedev buddy." what does that even mean
Pretty much a master class on how to show abuse and manipulation in a toxic relationship in a horror game. Plus, the art/music only elevate it to another level. Excellent demo!
