This is illegal impoundment, plain and simple.
For those who donβt know, Unidata is an IT services center for weather and climate research. They create software and maintain data streams that I, and hundreds of other meteorologists, use on a daily basis. #nsfdata
Have you ever looked at a weather map online? Or seen a nice visualization of weather forecast model output? If so, NSF Unidata almost certainly made that possible in one way or another.
Modern meteorological education would not be possible without the data, tools, and resources they provide.
This is really not good... many scientists around the world rely on unidata tools or products (think 'netcdf')... π #science
