Originally released in 1991, Drive has been remastered with the addition of 3 bonus tracks and is now available as a hi-res digital download album from my personal Bandcamp page.

Yeah it’s rather entertaining. I usually hate hospital dramas especially all the boring inter-staff relationships (and there’s plenty of that later on). But Freddie Highmores portrayal of an autistic doctor, whilst sometimes heavy handed, is still very sympathetic.

Wildflowers and Waveforms — Loula Yorke's 'Hydrology' From squat parties to a cottage on a wildflower common, Loula Yorke has built a practice around beauty, ecological dread, and the feminist history that 'Hydrology' quietly carries forward.

Lovely interview with @loulayorke.bsky.social over at Tonearm where she chats about many things including her album 'Hydrology' (DiN94) released on the DiN label in November.

As I mentioned it’s a little over the top at times - it is an American TV show after all - but does have some situations which resonate.

Thanks. The Bridge was excellent, on many levels. The others I don’t know about but don’t have those channels. Have you seen The Good Doctor?

Crafting a very large, complex patch. There comes a point when the critical mass of something like this goes beyond just simply, "being a patch", and enters more interesting territory - part musical composition & part performative instrument. That's where the real creativity lies.

Recently binged all 7 seasons of The Good Doctor. I don’t usually go in for medical dramas (annoying inter-staff relationships) but this one stood out with its main character being Autistic. At times they perhaps over-exaggerated this but it still resonated at times. How did you find this show?

Now playing Epsilon in Malaysian Pale, which has always been my favourite solo album by Edgar Froese. However this is the 2004 mix version that I’ve never heard before. Sadly I think it’s utterly terrible and destroys all the subtlety of the original as well as some bad distortion in parts.

In Deep Serge Drone territory today. 4 x VCOs tuned to a chord as 2 pairs through 2 crossfaders. Each of these then goes 3 ways:- a pair of highly resonant Band Pass filters, a pair of Waveshapers > Phaser & one pair through a Ring Mod then the Wilson Analog Delay with final FX from the Wellspring.

Now playing Trilogie de la Mort by Éliane Radigue. She has left us with an amazing legacy of work of which this is often cited as her masterpiece. Ultra minimalist in nature this drone work using her beloved ARP2500 opens up immense vistas of deep sound through almost imperceptible tonal shifts.

Time to Tendrilise the modular set up for some forthcoming shows to give a clean, uncluttered playing surface.

And then in a moment of strange synchronicity you notice your lampshade looks remarkably like the cover of the album you’re listening to (Ambient 2 The Plateau of Mirror).

Now playing Ambient 2 The Plateau of Mirror by Harold Budd & Brian Eno. Originally released in 1980 this has really stood the test of time & for me the opening track “First Light” is still one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard.

"d’Voxx say that these tracks “do not attempt to score the films, but rather to inhabit their territories”. And what territories they are".

It's the official release day for HERZOG: A Retrospective (DiN95) by modular synth duo d'Voxx which showcases their musical interpretations of the five films legendary German director Werner Herzog made with mercurial actor Klaus Kinski.

Tracking two complimentary sampled string parts, one at a time, through my venerable old Moog Phaser pedal (what you're hearing are the two parts playing together). Although there are some very good Phaser plug-ins, for me, there's nothing quite like the swish of a good, analogue phaser.

Latest read in my A.E. van Vogt odyssey is Rogue Ship published in 1965, another of his "fix-up" novels. Some of the political maneouvrings on board the spacecraft I found a little tedious but his ideas of time dilation at faster than light travel are really far out & way ahead of their time.

Ian Boddy and Chris Carter "Caged" lp cover and red vinyl

Absolutely dreary outside in SF today. This is a perfect soundtrack. Masterful work here.

Really loved the new series, Small Prophets written by Mackenzie Crook (who previously wrote The Detectorists - which was also wonderful). At times bizarre, hilarious & wistful, it's such a refreshing change to the barrage of unsubtle content that much of modern TV adheres to. Recommended.

Yep very useful. I’ve also got a second card that adds some VCS3 like functionality.
