Johnnie Lacy, born in Arkansas in 1937, was a civil and disability rights advocate and a leader in the independent living movement, fighting for choice and accessibility.

We honor Johnnie and all who continue to speak out against discrimination and defend our right to live independent lives.

I’m sitting in a priority seat on the bus with my disability ID prominently displayed around my neck. No others sitting in these seats are displaying theirs (if they have them).

A person places both hands on me and tells me to move.

Shout out to the disabled community for always showing up, always being on the right side of history and justice, always willing to put their bodies on the line, all for the cause of making sure *everyone* has the basic dignity of health care.

Today, Member States of the @coe.int have a chance to start to legally protect the right to a #HealthyEnvironmentForAll in Europe.

Europe should be leading, not lagging, when it comes to human rights.

UK weather: Spring may become driest on record with no rain in sight There has been a lack of rainfall in many parts of the UK so far this spring and there is little or no rain in the immediate forecast.

This Spring (March-April-May) may end up being the driest on record for the UK.

This would also make it the driest of any season in a dataset that goes back to 1836.

Spring in 1852 currently holds the record for driest season at 100.7 mm averaged across the UK.
