Popping this back to the top of my feed.
I've watched @legaleagle.tv discuss difficult topics for years, but this video is by far the most heartfelt and raw. Worth the watch.

Grief is really weird... it can sneak up on ya and attack unexpectedly a lot later down the line... Just take it as slow or fast as ya want... it gets better slowly but surely!
I mean it

24.12.2025 23:27 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0yes, this is why when you see actual artist time lapses (not ones where someone just hides the AI image they're tracing) there is a ton of time spent just on figuring out the blocking and fixing problems on a structural level. Slop is slop because it is noise without problem solving

A movie you've watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars or Trek), LotR, or Marvel.
Is this supposed to be hard? ๐
Just an observation after a month on Linux:
The experience of just having your gui package tool install software at a click rather than the classic "google it, bum tri, bum trip, bum trip, score!" of finding software on Windows has just been so so rewarding!
#Linux
In conclusion... don't be afraid to try something new. Spinning up a linux distro on a flash drive isn't the commitment it might seem. And then again you might fall in love and go the whole nine yards. ๐
08.12.2025 16:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It was this drive the simple question of "is the grass greener" that made me want to migrate. Add the intrusive AI BS preying on me every second of every day and the choice was clear.
I am happier now and I'm probably never going to have a windows device again...
This leads neatly into why I threw windows out the window (pun intended) and embraced the penguin: This years long slog of just being an exploitable resource not regarded in any way else than something to make open its wallet. My experience in that ecosystem was honestly exhausting looking back...
08.12.2025 16:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I think it comes down to deeply human focussed UI design that great features I just find whenever I need them are conveniently baked into a desktop environment. It really shows the care and attention and not to mention the passion that goes into developing free software.
08.12.2025 16:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I LOOOVE the desktop environment. KDE Plasma is what I've been craving on windows for the last decade! Features you have to essentially hack into windows are standard with it. Case in point the ability to set a window always-on-top comes out of the box, conveniently at the ready with a right click.
08.12.2025 16:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The penguin in the room with linux so to speak the "everything has to be done via terminal" has not come up at all. Between the system assistant rani and the package manage frontend octopi the most common tasks are easily accomplished nice and safe within the gui in simple and user friendly manner!
08.12.2025 16:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Aside from this Garuda was a treat from day one: Quick and easy to install, user friendly, FAST as blazes and subjectively quite nice looking once you set it up to your liking! And to that end setting everything up is even easier in many respects than on Windows 11 with its mess of control panels.
08.12.2025 16:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Most aspects has been positive save for the challenges of drivers for certain devices. Not the end of the world but a bit annoying. The other big hurdle was modding Skyrim but that wasn't strictly a linux issue but rather a technicality in how Steam's emulation, proton, works. This is now sorted.
08.12.2025 16:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0SO 100th post here! Yay!
I'll take the time to lay out my feeling on switching to Linux. More specifically Garuda.
The whole experience has been interesting. I likened it to getting a new car with new features cuz that's the vibe I have had by and large.
I'm reminded of a time on British Dragon's Den where Peter Jones were disgusted by looking at his poop while flushing to save water... Maybe this is a real and stressful issue plagueing rich folks?
06.12.2025 03:45 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0To be hacked so strangers can see yer nether regions as you take a shet!
Then again my dad told me stories about what they got up to with glass ceilings (it was a street level glass floor with their offices under it) in the 60s so all generations have such things!
Maybe the final nail will be the masses not being able to afford the devices running the BS AI tools or consume the things they produce thus demand for them will collapse?
Hella ironic I think!
My my my~ quite the dumpy on him~
I approve! ๐
