the first Lufia is a more straightforward rpg, but Lufia 2 is set before it and you doesn't require advance knowledge, which is nice. I don't want to gas it up too much, its a very meat-and-potatoes kind of rpg with an offbeat 90s translation, but its got a lot of charm in spite/because of it.

in terms of rpg mechanical excess of the snes era there were still other games more pushing the envelope, especially narratively, but in terms of just piling stuff on in the way I appreciate the genre does its still impressive. also the boss music still fucking slaps.

you got the usual new game+, a casino, and super bosses, but also a full roguelike, a randomizer scavenger hunt, a monster collecting/raising component, zelda-style dungeon puzzles, an optional hidden super puzzle, a shop to buy back every item you ever sold. other games needed 32 bits for all that!

replaying Lufia 2, which is pure snes rpg comfort food. but its also an interesting game to me because despite being a charming but by-the-books fantasy rpg it also kind of goes bonus-content maximalist for a snes game in a way the genre wouldn't quite be known for until the ps1 era.

As a matter of survival, our response must be to make it as costly as we can, as ugly and as reputationally damaging and as expensive as we are able to - to abandon and sacrifice trans people.

To keep it from being an easy, simple bottom line decision to drive us out of public life.

If we are understanding and kind when orgs abandon us, that makes it even easier for the next org to make that same decision.

If, instead, abandoning us means your reputation gets trashed, other orgs sever ties with you, and you get protests at yr places - that raises the costs of that decision.
